What is a Bicarbonate Bathing?
The HOT TAB series is a unique bath additive developed to offer the benefits of bicarbonate bathing for health and beauty at home. Research and development began in 2009, and the product was launched in 2012.
What is Bicarbonate Bath?
“Bicarbonate bath” refers to water in which bicarbonate has been dissolved.
You might have heard of “carbonated springs,” known for their ability to warm the body from the core. These baths are reputed to promote blood circulation, alleviate coldness,
shoulder stiffness, lower back pain, and fatigue, and are also used in beauty treatments like head spas and cosmetics.
While carbonated springs are celebrated for their various effects, the crucial factor is not the bubbles of carbon dioxide gas that quickly escape into the air. Instead, it’s the transformation of carbon dioxide gas into “bicarbonate ions” when it dissolves in water. This water with dissolved bicarbonate ions is what we call a “bicarbonate bath.“
The primary benefit comes from bicarbonate ions, not the carbon dioxide bubbles.
Natural carbonated springs, such as those in Germany and Nagayu Onsen in Oita, Japan,
have a pH of 6.7 to 7.1. At this pH, acidic carbon dioxide gas cannot remain dissolved and turns into bicarbonate ions.
Bicarbonate ions are believed to enhance both the warming and cleansing effects of the bath.
Unlike carbon dioxide gas, bicarbonate ions do not quickly evaporate into the air. Their concentration can last for 24 hours, allowing you to enjoy the benefits the next day as well.
Suitable for Sensitive Skin and Babies
The water with dissolved HOT TAB tablets becomes neutral in pH, making it very gentle on the skin. This mild, soothing water is suitable for people with sensitive skin and even for babies.
